Creep in a Shrink-fit Assembly Subjected to a Symmetric Radial Load.

Abstract:

Radially loaded shrink-fit assemblies are the subject of this work. A criterion of creep for rotating load is suggested on the basis of Coulomb friction and a non-rotating load. The stresses in the contact surface were calculated for a simplified shrink-fit model. Critical loads with respect to creep were evaluated for some load cases. Two experiments were carried out in order to verify the theoretical results. The agreement between calculation and test is satisfactory. The theory was expanded to give diagrams for roller bearing fits.
