Abstract:

Precompressed radially loaded annular springs are the subject of this work. Maximum stress in the spring, maximum displacement for an unbonded spring, radial compensation for temperature stresses obtained at fabrication and radial stiffness of an eccentric spring were calculated. Two experiments were carried out and compared with the derived formulae. The agreement between calculations and tests is satisfactory.
